7 of the 9 National Parks in England, 3 of 17 World Heritage Sites and 455,000 hectares of SSSIs are in Less Favoured Areas. 18% of SSSIs are in a favourable condition and almost 80% are unfavourable but recovering. 38% of new dwellings built in Less Favoured Areas were built on non-previously developed land - 10 percentage points higher than elsewhere. 61% of new dwellings built in Sparse Rural Less Favoured Areas were built on non-previously developed land, the highest of all settlement types. Average expenditure per visit is highest in Sparse Rural LFAs - £29.59.
