1513: Economics of benefits for the environment - freshwater
This paper is taken from the section on provisioning services in the Natural England Research Report
Year of Publication2012
Current levels of demand for water abstraction already present problems, and these are particularly acute during summer droughts. This is expected to become more acute in the coming century. South-East England has less water per person than Morocco and Egypt. Over a quarter of the ground water bodies in England are at risk of failing environmental objectives due to abstraction pressures.
