Health is better in rural than in urban areas. Men and women born in Rural-50 areas are expected to live 2 years longer than men born in Major Urban areas. The infant mortality rate in rural areas is slightly lower than the England average but is not decreasing and in Village areas it is increasing. Potential years of life lost from cancer, stroke and coronary heart disease are all lower than the England average.
