Briefing 1508: Energy crop potential
This paper is taken from a report for DECC by the bioeconomy consultants NNFCC, ‘Domestic Energy Crops; Potential and Constraints Review’.
Year of Publication2012
The production of energy crops is being severely constrained by the lack of promotion of the Energy Crops Scheme to potential growers, agents, consultants or advisors. Conflicts of organisational objectives within Natural England make it very difficult for them to actively promote energy crops, and so the industry would welcome a reappraisal of the structure of this scheme.
