1346: Anaerobic Digestion Strategy and Action Plan
This paper is summarised from the executive summary of Defra’s ‘Anaerobic Digestion Strategy and Action Plan’ for England.
Year of Publication2011
The AD Strategy and Action Plan is not a comprehensive road map but a first step towards one. It aims to remove obstacles by making information accessible, developing best practice, providing an agreed framework for skills and training, and dealing with connection to the gas grid. Longer term it will help to build markets for digestate, understand the barriers that currently restrict the use of biomethane as a transport fuel and work on the use of purpose grown crops as feedstocks and on advanced technologies to deliver more complex outputs. Financial incentives will provide the revenue support that investors need.
