Climate change series: Focus on sustainable dairying

A description of the changes made on one dairy farm to reduce the costs of energy.

John Booth is making changes on his 200 hectare dairy farm in Wales to reduce the cost of energy. These include improvements in building ventilation and the reduction of artificial fertiliser cost by the efficient use of slurry and manure. Cost saving measures also include the use of low energy bulbs, low-cost timing switches, heat exchange devices, and cheap-tariff electricity.
