Food inflation rose to 4.6%% in March and is well above general inflation (3.5%). Total Income from Farming for 2011 increased by 25% in real terms compared to 2010. World agricultural markets have been relatively stable. Most UK farmers were advanced with spring crop drilling but the rain in April has delayed later sown crops. Most livestock sector prices are little changed. Jan 2012 TB incidence rates were a little lower than those for January 2012.
