1585: Beef statistics
This paper gives selected statistics from the EBLEX 2012 Cattle yearbook
Year of Publication2012
12 months of improved fortunes for the English beef industry compared to recent years. Tightening cattle supplies, both domestically and on the global market, boosted demand and pushed finished cattle prices through the 300 pence per kg mark for the first time. However slaughterings are falling and there are worries whether future supplies will be adequate. This summary also includes statistics on trends in production, consumption and self-sufficiency of red meats, UK expenditure on food and auction mart numbers.
