Cereal straw is typically the bedding material of choice, however, its availability and cost is now becoming a concern. Alternatives include woodchip, paper, pea haulm, rape straw, canary reed grass, miscanthus, bracken or rushes, but their cost and effectiveness varies. Some may be best used in combination with cereal straw.
