1269: IGD – Challenge for change
This is taken from a paper delivered at the ECR Europe Conference 2011 at the beginning of the month by Joanne Denney-Finch, Chief Executive, IGD
Year of Publication2011
Winds of change – sustainable rather than credit driven growth, increasing age and falling birth rates, new superpowers, resources – especially water, volatile climate and the digital revolution – over half EU consumers will have smart phones by the end of the year. Challenges – returning to sales growth – convincing consumers quality is worth paying for, winning a big share of emerging markets, managing costs, making the supply chain sustainable and resilient and a stronger relationship with society. Actions – get closer to shoppers, increase transparency, produce more with less, wage war on waste – half of the world’s food is wasted, use technology and invest in skills
