Including: visits to the countryside increased by 10% in 2011; the landscape value of beef and sheep farming contributes £889 million a year to National Parks’ tourism revenue; over 150k visitors attended LEAF Open Farm Sunday this year; an area three times that of Wales is in British agri-environment schemes; nitrogen, phosphate and potash use on farms has declined; pesticide usage has halved since 1990; it takes only 67 litres of piped water to produce 1kg beef and 49 litres for 1kg lamb; methane and nitrous oxide emissions from UK agriculture fell by 20% and 19% respectively between 1990 and 2010.
