1274: GHG Action Plan

This paper is summarised from ‘Meeting the Challenge: Agriculture Industry GHG Action Plan, Delivery of Phase I: 2010 – 2012’.

The plan has been developed by an industry partnership to deliver an initial reduction of 3Mt CO2e GHG emissions by 2020. It has identified priority actions with an initial focus to promote production efficiency. It will also complement other environmental priorities, such as the protection of water resources, soils and biodiversity. It uses existing trusted delivery routes like the sector Roadmaps and sets out how science and technical advice will be improved to motivate behaviour change. A governance structure has been established that ensures a strategic approach.
