Government plans for the supermarket adjudicator will leave the onus to complain on individual farmers and suppliers. 31st December is the final date for claims for NVZ grassland derogation. Profitability of arable farms increased in 2010 /2011. Dairy farm profits also increased but only by 7% and pig, beef and sheep profits fell. Parliament has decided to leave the Agricultural Wages Board on the ‘powers to abolish list’. EU proposals that organic pig and poultry producers should have to grow at least 40% of their feed on their farms have been quashed but a proposal that all of the ration is organic stands.
