Nutrient Management Planning: case studies (Profiting from nutrient planning)
Case studies for farmers highlighting the benefits of good nutrient management planning.
Year of Publication2008
The Environment Agency's campaign, The Environmental Plan for Dairy Farming, aims to improve farmers’ knowledge about nutrient planning and particularly the benefits of using organic manures. Six farms in north-east England were selected to illustrate good practice. The case studies in this booklet use data collected from these farms to highlight the environmental and financial benefits of nutrient management planning and the application of organic manures. In particular, they demonstrate the significant opportunities to save on fertiliser nitrogen by accounting for the available nitrogen in manures.
