An account of the production of hemp on an Essex farm and its role in reducing energy use and crop inputs.
As the market for food crops became worse in 1999, the Squier brothers decided to include hemp in the rotation. Benefits in switching from wheat include better control of blackgrass, a reduced nitrogen requirement, improved soil structure and the capture of carbon in the products manufactured from the fibre and shiv.
