There are opportunities for farmers to link food production to the growing market for environment, animal welfare, local, regional, British, seasonal and organic standards. Consumers say they support differentiated produce but their preferences tend not to be reflected in day-to-day purchasing decisions. Better and wider broadcast information is needed to change views into action.
